who is this guy?

JOZA Roy makes music like he's already arrived, even on the nights he's still figuring it out. Born in Detroit, built in Lansing, JOZA writes every word himself and hand-picks every sound behind it, because the vision only works if he's the one steering it. He's not new to being seen: Netflix's Rhythm & Flow, a Grammy U Ambassadorship, recognition from Congress, a win at Millennium Park, a moment on PBS's Streetlight Sessions. But none of that is the point. The point is the frequency. JOZA is sharpening his own production so the whole thing, start to finish, comes from one place. Until then, every beat is chosen with the same intention as every line he writes. A Navy veteran with nothing borrowed and nothing owed, he's building his own paradise, one streetlight at a time.
